Nostalgia in the air, thick like summer cigarettes, and reciting those little stories that we forgot for awhile. A few laughs, it’s not entirely happy, but it’s good. It’s ancient and old and it’s new and real, but it feels more like I’m staring at a sepia photograph for too long. A note of faint despair or a neighbour on a guitar, who knows? So I’m grasping, but they’re ghosts while still flesh and blood. Still, I need to calm down and embrace. Sitting on the porch and as the light dims so do the senses. Everything is mirthful, yet becoming less clever. Pick out when old things were new, when wrinkles were absent, before the summer cigarettes were burned out. Leaving now, bright colour and well wishes become memories.
